Healthy Thanksgiving Reminders

I live in England so of course I have never experienced Thanksgiving but from what i've gathered, it's just like any other holiday in the sense that it is used as an excuse to EAT A LOT!

And you know what! YOU CAN EAT AS MUCH AS YOU WANT!

Over the years I have realised just how important these special occasions are; Birthdays, Halloween, Easter, Christmas...Exam results day! They don't happen every day so it fine to let loose once in a while and just have a good time with your loved ones.

So here are some little reminders for Thanksgiving:

1. Thanksgiving is just one day. Don't go crazy this whole week, pace yourself and enjoy everything in moderation.

2. BUT don't restrict yourself! Don't think "Oh i'm going to be eating a lot on Thanksgiving so i'm going to eat less running up to the big day" NO! That is an unhealthy way of thinking, don't punish yourself in advance for something you shouldn't even feel guilty for.

3. One day of bad eating wont make you gain weight/lose progress, just like one day of healthy eating wont give you the body of your dreams.

4. Don't weigh yourself the day after! Any weight you've gained the day after wont be actual fat, it takes days for your body to actually process food to store as fat!

5. Get back to your normal schedule the next day. That doesn't mean punishing yourself through a workout for everything you ate on Thanksgiving! See exercise as a way of rewarding your body for all that it does for you, not a punishment.

Okay, those are all of my tips for today, i had so many running through my head as i was typing but i seem to have forgotten some. Hopefully these should get you through the week.

(Oh and just another cheeky little suggestion: Left over turkey is great for healthy salads and sandwiches for the next day when you're back on track)

Now tell me, how does your family celebrate Thanksgiving?

Stay healthy
